It’s great for casual rides, but has a long enough range to do long rides or daily commuting. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a commuter or cruiser bike!

I’ve been riding it for a year now and it has around 5600 miles on it so it’s about time. I use this bike for my daily commute which is a 20 mile round trip, Sometimes I’ll add a few miles by choosing a longer route when I have time and the weather is nice. I also like to go on rides on the weekends or days off just to get outside and get some exercise. As you the reader may have guessed, I love this bike! Before deciding on the 700, I did as much research online as I could. I wanted a reliable commuter that I could take out for some casual road rides on the weekends and this bike does not disappoint. I have configured the cockpit to give me a more aggressive position but it is still comfortable. As I like to tinker a bit with my bikes, I have changed the pedals, the handle bars, the grips and I installed a 48T chainring. None of which is really necessary but as I said I like to tinker. I have had a few issues with the bike however, the main one being at around the ten month mark the pas would intermittently stop working but as the bike was still under warranty and with the help of Apollo at the service center and Zac and Rudy at the Shop in San Diego the problem was fixed quickly and I didn’t miss a single day of my commute. I also went through a phase of getting a crazy amount of flats but I installed some Mr. Tuffy tire liners and switched to slime inner tubes and I haven’t had a flat since. For me this was a great pick that checked all the boxes I was looking for and I would recommend this bike for anyone interested in an out of the box commuter with great flexibility for customizing to your personal riding style. A little about me, I am 59 years old and am in much better shape now than I was a year ago. I was a skinny tire rider in my youth and this bike has allowed me to get back out there without worrying if I can make it over the next big climb or last 5 miles to home. This bike really can make cycling available to anyone which I think is a very good thing.

That said, my experience with e-biking is on the 700 series.

Things I like:
1) This is a lot more fun than conventional cycling and you can still get your heart rate high by using lower levels of assistance or going at a higher speed. If I want to avoid sweating, I can. If I want a workout, I can do that too.
2) I like that I can remove the battery so that I can charge it in a cooler environment or bring it up to my office.
3) I really like the feel of the tires on the pavement, great grip
4) My bike guy tells me that this bike is well-equipped in terms of components, especially at this price point

My problems:
1) The bike rack on the city bus only supports tires with a width up to 2.25″, this bike is 2.4″. I tried it anyway and it doesn’t fit. This reduces my options on the commute and I wish I would have bought something with a smaller wheel and maybe a bit less weight.
2) The 60 miles of range might be true but there would be a lot of caveats on that. For one, you’d be using a such low level of assistance that you’d basically just be offsetting the extra weight of this bike and it would feel like pedaling a normal weighted bike 60 miles. Secondly, they tell you to operate the battery between 20% and 80% so that really only opens up 60% of the battery for normal use. Finally, if you read the ideal operating temperatures for the battery… in my geography, you get like 3 days a year you can ride the bike.
3) Originally, I was thinking about this in terms of the cost per mile based on my cost of a kw/h. The reality is charging the battery is almost free from an energy perspective. The real cost is the battery will only take a limited number of charges and is a very expensive part to replace. If you include the wear and tear on battery this isn’t such a cheap commute.
4) While my bike mechanic appreciates the components, he has struggled getting the rear spokes to stay at tension… he thinks the bike might be too heavy for the wheel provided. Ride 1up has been supportive as we work through this but its been annoying.
5) This isn’t a huge deal but the bike can be a bit of a wuss about hills. I live in Iowa so this isn’t a big problem for me.

Have over 40 miles almost 30 commutes to/from work on the Ride1Up 700 series. It’s getting colder and darker leaving me lots of pleasant rides with the headlight and taillight that work great. The ride to work is downhill and all uphill for the ride home (which was a killer with my non-powered pedal bike). The brakes seem to be bedding in well with only minor adjustment needed. The rear derailleur has needed adjustment to keep easy shifting. Only minor gripe I have is there is a vibration rattle I haven’t been able to track down.
Overall, great e-bike, with great performance. Time will tell how the batteries last as everything on the bike should last very well.

Tremendous value. If you’re looking for an e-bike, the 700 is a great choice. I heard assembly was challenging so I paid a mobile bike repair company to assemble. The technician never looked at the instructions and was very impressed with the quality of components.
Most importantly, the 700 is so fun to ride. Go for it!

Our battery failed on one if our 700s just after 12 months. Leaving a message, we were contacted by Brian from Arizona. We communicated over several days trying different technical moves with internal battery fuses but couldnt solve the the issue.
Ride 1UP stepped up in a big way and shipped us a new battery replacement!
We full time RV and visit over a dozen camprounds a year in our travels and discuss ebikes with at least one ciuple at each one. Bet you can guess who we recommend!

Unfortunately I was only able to enjoy for a couple rides. I hit by a driver who wasn’t paying attention and the bike cost almost as much to fix as the bike itself. Even after that I will order another one and hope that I don’t get into another accident any time soon.
